Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with clients who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, consider checking with your insurer to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Of course! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you will need to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we provide an additional camping tent with every package which you can easily put up on the ground next to your camping truck. This can be more suitable for both you and also your little ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your vehicles?
We could fit 3 people maximum, though in case there are more in your group, we do provide an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Certainly, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Just let us know up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or even a map with the nicest locations to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach front for camping?
You may drive up to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will give you a list of the greatest places to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to go to official camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You should only go camping in designated locations with a valid camping permit. The charge is about $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have complete access to amenities, like bathrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is definitely a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses online and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, it is not absolutely necessary to book your camping permits before your arrival. You could also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
Whether you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You may choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them right away.
