Below are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with clients who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking with your insurance company to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Could you accommodate adults who have children?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also provide an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you could put up on the ground next to the camper truck. This may be more convenient for you and your children.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
We can accommodate three people at most, although if there are more in your party, we do offer an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we can easily accommodate up to five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Simply inform us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guidebook or a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Top Spots For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I go to any beach front for camping?
You could go to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We’ll give you a list of the top locations to visit and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we only able to go to official camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in designated areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is around $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private campsites could be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, such as showers, washrooms & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping license before your trip. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to reserve your camping permits before your planned arrival. You may also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
No matter if you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them immediately.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
