Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with clients who are actually 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, based on your needs, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
If you are below twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurance company to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Would you be able to accommodate families who have children?
Indeed! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this is a concern, we also offer an additional tent with all of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground. This could be more suitable for both you and your young ones.
How many people can your camper vehicles accommodate?
The camping trucks sleep three individuals at most, although if there are more within your party, we do offer an additional camping tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for about five people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Yes, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guide book or a map with the nicest beaches & hiking trails to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach front for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll give you a list of the best locations to check out and also to go camping. Please remember that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we only able to go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in specific locations with secured camping permits. The charge is approximately $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campsites may be a little more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you will have total access to facilities, such as showers, restrooms & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a better to organize your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite some time to receive your permits. You may choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them immediately.
