Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based on your situation, whenever possible, we try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, consider checking in with your insurance company to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Can you accommodate families who have children?
Yes! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we offer an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you can put up on the ground. This may be more convenient for you as well as your children.
How many people can your camping trucks fit?
We are able to accommodate 3 individuals maximum, although in case there are more within your party, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate about 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Simply inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide book or a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see and go camping on Kauai.
Finest Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach for camping?
You could go to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll supply you with a list of the best places to explore and also to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we only visit official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in specific locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is around $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private camp sites could be a bit more. The good thing about these campsites is that you will have total access to facilities, including showers, restrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a better to get your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, you don’t have to book your camping permits prior to your arrival. You may also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?
No matter whether you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to get your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued on-the-spot.
