Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with clients who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, consider contacting your insurance company to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate families with children?
Certainly! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we offer an additional camping tent with every package which you could set up on the ground. This can be more convenient for you as well as your little ones.
How many individuals can your camping vehicles fit?
The camper vehicles sleep 3 people maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do have an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate up to five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Just tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or a map with the best hiking trails & beaches to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Finest Spots For Camping On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach front to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, nevertheless, you should only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the ideal locations to explore and also to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we just go to official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You should only camp in official locations with secured camping permits. The charge is around $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private campsites may be a bit more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have full access to amenities, such as washrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please note that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits online and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are cashier’s checks and money orders. However, it is not absolutely necessary to book your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. You may choose to receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them right away.
