Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. However, depending on your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, try contacting your insurance company to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Could you accommodate adults with kids?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an extra camping tent with every package which you can easily set up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for both you and also your little ones.
How many people can your camping vehicles fit?
We can fit three individuals maximum, though if there are more in your group, we do have an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to fit up to 5 people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, we offer surfboards and boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide book or even a map with the nicest hiking trails and beaches to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see and camp out on Kauai.
Top Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach front to camp?
You could go to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will supply you with a list of the best locations to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only visit designated camping sites? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in specific areas with a valid camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, but private campgrounds may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have full access to amenities, like washrooms, showers & picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to book your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
