Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
If you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tent camper trucks kids friendly?
Yes! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb a small ladder. If this is a concern, we also provide an additional camping tent with every package which you can set up on the ground. This may be much more comfortable for both you and also your children.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
The camper trucks fit three people at most, although in case there are more within your group, we do provide an extra camping tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for about five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a small fee. Simply tell us up-front if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or perhaps a map with the nicest places to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach for camping?
You may go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will supply you with a list of the ideal places to check out and also to camp in. Please remember that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we just visit official camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in designated areas with secured camping permits. The charge is about $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camp sites could be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have full access to amenities, like washrooms, showers and picnic tables. Please note that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping license before your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents need to pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits prior to your arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to get your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given on-the-spot.
