Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We try to work with clients who are twenty-five years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, depending on your needs, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try checking in with your insurer to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb one small ladder. If this is a problem, we also offer an extra tent with each of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground next to the camping vehicle. This can be much more comfortable for both you and also your kids.
How many individuals can your camping vehicles fit?
The camping vehicles fit 3 individuals maximum, though if there are more in your party, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily fit up to 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards and fins on request for a small fee. Just inform us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a travel guide or perhaps a map with the greatest beaches and hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out & go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I go to any beach to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will supply you with a list of the greatest places to check out and also to go camping. Please note that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in specific locations with a valid camping permit. The charge is about $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private camp sites could be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you have complete access to facilities, including showers, bathrooms & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to get your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also in person in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You might obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them immediately.
