Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually 25 years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always strive to be flexible.
If you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tents family friendly?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb a little ladder. If this is a problem, we offer an extra tent with every package which you could put up on the ground. This could be more convenient for you as well as your little ones.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
Our camping vehicles sleep three people at most, though if there are more in your party, we do provide an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for about 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Just inform us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide or perhaps a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach front for camping?
You could go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will provide you with a list of the top places to check out and to go camping. Please remember that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specified areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is approximately $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, though private campsites could be a bit more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have total access to amenities, including washrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please remember that if you decide to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.
Can you suggest any Kauai camp sites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license before your trip. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are bank checks and money orders. But it is not necessary to book your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?
Whether you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to receive your permits. You might choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.
