Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to do business with clients who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, depending on your situation, whenever we can, we strive to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try checking with your insurance company to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tent campers kids friendly?
Of course! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we offer an additional camping tent with each package which you could set up on the ground. This can be more convenient for you as well as your young children.
What is the max. capacity of your camping trucks?
Our camper trucks sleep 3 people at most, although if there are more within your group, we do have an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we can easily accommodate about 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us in advance if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a travel guide or even a map with the nicest beaches & hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach for camping?
You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you should only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll supply you with a list of the best locations to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we only go to official camping sites? If so, how much is the charge?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You should only camp in specific areas with secured camping permits. The charge is roughly $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private campsites could be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have total access to amenities, such as restrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are cashier’s checks as well as money orders. However, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter if you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to receive your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them immediately.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
