FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are actually 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we always try to be flexible.
In case you are below 25 years, consider checking in with your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Can you accommodate families with kids?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we provide an extra camping tent with every package which you can put up on the ground beside your camper vehicle. This could be more convenient for both you as well as your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
Our camping vehicles sleep three individuals maximum, although if there are more in your group, we do have an extra tent, as well. With this, we can easily accommodate about five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Just let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or perhaps a map with the nicest beaches and hiking trails to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to go to any beach front to camp?
You can go to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will give you a list of the top locations to visit and to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only visit official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You can only go camping in official locations with secured camping permits. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private campgrounds may be a bit more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you will have total access to amenities, including showers, restrooms & picnic tables. Please keep in mind that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.
What camping grounds do you recommend with the rooftop camping tent?

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license before your trip. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, it isn’t necessary to book your camping licenses before your arrival. You may also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued on the spot.
