Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to work with customers who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based upon your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, consider checking with your insurer to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Would you be able to accommodate families with kids?
Indeed! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we offer an additional camping tent with each of our packages which you may set up on the ground. This can be more suitable for you as well as your children.
How many individuals can your camping trucks fit?
Our camper trucks sleep 3 people at most, although if there are more in your group, we do have an additional camping tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for as much as 5 individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, we offer surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or a map with the greatest places to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & go camping on Kauai.
Finest Spots For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to go to any beach to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, nevertheless, you can only put up your camp in official camping sites. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We’ll provide you with a list of the top locations to visit and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping sites? If so, how much is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in specific areas with secured camping permits. The fee is about $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, including showers, restrooms and picnic dining tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to book your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given right away.
