FAQs
Is there a minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based upon your circumstances, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, try checking in with your insurance provider to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Of course! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also offer an additional tent with each of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for both you and your young ones.
How many people can your camping trucks fit?
We are able to accommodate 3 individuals at most, although if there are more within your group, we do offer an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for as much as 5 individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Just tell us in advance if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or a map with the nicest beaches & hiking trails to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and camp out on Kauai.
Perfect Spots For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach front for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in official camping sites. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the ideal places to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we just visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in designated areas with secured camping permits. The charge is about $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you have total access to amenities, such as showers, restrooms and picnic dining tables. Please note that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to get your Kauai camping license before your trip. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. Nevertheless, it is not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You may also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to obtain the camping permits?
Whether you decide to stay at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You might choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them immediately.
