Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we always try to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, consider contacting your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Can you accommodate families who have kids?
Of course! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we provide an additional camping tent with each package which you may set up on the ground. This may be much more comfortable for both you and also your young ones.
How many individuals can your camping trucks fit?
We can accommodate 3 people maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do offer an extra tent, as well. With this, we are able to fit about 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Certainly, we provide surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Just let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guide book or even a map with the best beaches and hiking trails to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to go to any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We’ll give you a list of the best locations to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we only able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in designated locations with secured camping permits. The charge is roughly $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private campsites may be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have total access to amenities, like showers, washrooms & picnic dining tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also in person in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. But you don’t have to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You can also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
If you decide to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. You may opt to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them on the spot.
