FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are actually 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, based upon your needs, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try checking in with your insurer to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Could you accommodate adults with children?
Absolutely! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we also provide an additional tent with all of our packages which you can put up on the ground. This may be more suitable for both you as well as your little ones.
How many people can your camping trucks fit?
We can fit 3 individuals at most, although if there are more in your group, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for up to five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Just inform us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guidebook or even a map with the nicest hiking trails & beaches to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see & go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach front for camping?
You can go to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We’ll provide you with a list of the best places to explore and also to go camping. Please note that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit official camping sites? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You can only camp in official areas with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private campgrounds may be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have full access to facilities, such as showers, bathrooms and picnic tables. Please remember that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also in person in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t have to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You may also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How much time does it take to obtain the camping permits?
Whether you choose to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to get your permits. You might obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them immediately.
