Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We try to do business with customers who are 25 years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, depending on your situation, whenever we can, we always strive to be accommodating.
If you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are you able to accommodate families with children?
Yes! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb one small ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for both you and also your kids.
How many people can your camping vehicles fit?
The roof top tent camper vehicles sleep 3 individuals maximum, although in case there are more within your group, we do provide an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to fit about five individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide or a map with the greatest beaches & hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach for camping?
You may drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the greatest places to visit and also to camp in. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we only visit designated camping sites? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in official areas with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campsites may be a bit more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have complete access to facilities, such as showers, bathrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please remember that if you opt to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.
Can you suggest any Kauai camping sites where we can set up the roof top tent?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents have to pay 3 dollars per night beforehand. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. But you don’t have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
Whether you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite some time to get your permits. You might choose to receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them right away.
