Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions

What is the minimum age to rent from you?

We try to work with clients who are actually 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, depending on your situation, whenever possible, we try to be accommodating.

In case you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurance company to find out whether you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.

Are your rooftop tents family friendly?

Certainly! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an extra camping tent with each of our packages which you could put up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for you and your little ones.

How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?

The roof top tent camper vehicles sleep three people maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do have an extra camping tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.

Do you offer surfboards?

Certainly, our company offers both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Just inform us in advance if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.

Do we get a guide or even a map with the best areas to explore on Kauai?

Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & camp out on Kauai.

Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits

Am I able to visit any beach front for camping?

You could drive up to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the greatest places to explore and to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.

Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to go to official camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?

No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in specified locations with a valid camping permit. The associated fee is about $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, but private campsites may be a bit more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you have complete access to facilities, like showers, bathrooms and picnic tables. Please note that if you opt to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?

It’s a better to get your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses online and also in person in the designated office.

If you opt to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.

In advance, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks and also money orders. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits prior to your arrival. You may also obtain them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.

What is the processing time for getting camping permits?

Whether you choose to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to get your permits. You might obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
