Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, consider checking with your insurer to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tent campers family friendly?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we also provide an extra camping tent with every package which you could set up on the ground beside the camper truck. This can be much more comfortable for you and also your young children.
How many people can your camper trucks accommodate?
We can fit three individuals maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to fit about 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Simply tell us in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a travel guide or perhaps a map with the best hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach front for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We will give you a list of the best places to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we just visit official camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in official locations with a current camping permit. The fee is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have total access to amenities, including washrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please note that if you opt to go camping on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is a better to get your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t necessary to book your camping permits prior to your arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to get your permits. You may opt to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them right away.
