Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, based on your situation, whenever possible, we always strive to be accommodating.
If you are below twenty-five, consider checking with your insurance company to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tent camper vehicles kids friendly?
Yes! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we offer an additional tent with all of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground next to your camping truck. This can be more convenient for you and your children.
How many individuals can your camping vehicles accommodate?
Our camper trucks fit three individuals at most, though in case there are more in your group, we do offer an additional tent, too. With this, we are able to fit up to 5 people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a fee. Just tell us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide book or even a map with the greatest locations to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the greatest places to check out and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit official camping grounds? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in specified areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is about $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private camping grounds may be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, like showers, washrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please note that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But it’s not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits before your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How much time will it take to get the camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to receive your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.
