Below are Some Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We prefer to do business with customers who are 25 years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Nevertheless, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, consider contacting your insurance provider to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?
Yes! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb one small ladder. If this is a problem, we provide an additional camping tent with every package which you can set up on the ground next to your camping truck. This could be much more comfortable for you and your little ones.
How many individuals can your camping trucks accommodate?
Our roof top tent camper trucks sleep three people maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we are able to fit up to 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide book or a map with the nicest hiking trails & beaches to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Top Spots For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I go to any beach for camping?
You could go to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the greatest locations to explore and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to visit designated camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in designated locations with a current camping permit. The fee is approximately $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private campgrounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have total access to amenities, like restrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please remember that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a better to get your Kauai camping license before your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay 3 dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, it isn’t necessary to book your camping licenses before your arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
Whether you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them immediately.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
