FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, depending on your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try checking with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Could you accommodate families with kids?
Of course! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this is a concern, we also provide an additional tent with every package which you may put up on the ground next to your camping vehicle. This may be more convenient for you and your children.
How many people can your camping trucks fit?
We are able to accommodate three individuals maximum, although in case there are more in your party, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate up to 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Yes, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide book or perhaps a map with the best places to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Top Spots For Camping On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach to camp?
You can go to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We’ll supply you with a list of the top places to check out and also to camp in. Please remember that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we only visit official camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in specified areas with secured camping permits. The charge is about $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you will have full access to facilities, including bathrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, it isn’t absolutely necessary to book your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How long does it take to obtain the camping permits?
Whether you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.
