Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with clients who are 25 years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, based on your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurance provider to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Of course! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb a little ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an extra tent with every package which you could put up on the ground. This can be more suitable for both you and your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your camper trucks?
Our camping trucks sleep 3 individuals maximum, although if there are more in your group, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate up to 5 people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Yes, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Just tell us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or perhaps a map with the best areas to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see & camp out on Kauai.
Finest Locations For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach front for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will give you a list of the top locations to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in specific locations with secured camping permits. The charge is about $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private camping grounds may be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have full access to facilities, including showers, restrooms & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you opt to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses before your arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How much time will it take to get the camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given immediately.
