FAQs
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We try to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
If you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this is a concern, we also provide an extra camping tent with every package which you can put up on the ground. This can be more suitable for both you and your little ones.
How many people can your camping vehicles accommodate?
The camping trucks fit 3 people at most, although in case there are more in your group, we do provide an additional tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for up to five people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guidebook or a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach to camp?
You can go to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll provide you with a list of the top locations to explore and to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to visit official camping sites? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in official locations with a valid camping permit. The fee is approximately $3 per night in most Kauai county parks, though private campsites may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have complete access to amenities, like bathrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, you don’t have to book your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
Whether you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to camp at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to get your permits. You may choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them right away.
