Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with clients who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based on your needs, whenever we can, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try checking in with your insurance company to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Would you be able to accommodate families who have kids?
Of course! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb one small ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an additional tent with every package which you can easily put up on the ground beside your camper vehicle. This can be more suitable for both you as well as your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
The camping vehicles fit 3 individuals maximum, though if there are more within your group, we do provide an additional camping tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for as much as 5 individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Just tell us up-front if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide or a map with the nicest areas to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and camp out on Kauai.
Ideal Spots For Camping On Kauai & Specifics About Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, nevertheless, you should only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll give you a list of the greatest places to explore and also to go camping. Please note that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only go to official camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in designated locations with a valid camping permit. The fee is around $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camp sites may be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have total access to facilities, including restrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to book your camping permits prior to your arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
Whether you decide to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to get your permits. You might choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.
