FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. But, based upon your situation, whenever we can, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurance company to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are you able to accommodate adults who have kids?
Of course! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we offer an additional camping tent with each of our packages which you can set up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for you and your little ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your camping vehicles?
We are able to fit three people at most, although if there are more in your party, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate up to 5 people. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or a map with the greatest areas to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach to camp?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll supply you with a list of the ideal places to check out and to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specified areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is about $3 per night stay in many Kauai county parks, though private camping grounds may be a bit more. One advantage of these campsites is that you have complete access to facilities, including bathrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please remember that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.
Can you suggest any Kauai camping sites where we can set up the roof top tent?

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks and money orders. But it isn’t necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
No matter if you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You might obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them immediately.
