Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions

Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?

We would rather like to work with clients who are actually 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, based on your situation, whenever we can, we strive to be accommodating.

If you are below 25 years, consider contacting your insurance provider to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.

Are your roof top tents kids friendly?

Yes! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb a little ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an additional camping tent with every package which you could put up on the ground beside the camping truck. This could be more comfortable for you and your children.

What is the max. capacity of your trucks?

Our camping trucks fit three individuals at most, though if there are more within your group, we do have an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to fit as much as five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.

What about surfboards?

Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.

Do we get a guidebook or a map with the nicest areas to check out on Kauai?

Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit & go camping on Kauai.

Finest Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Information Regarding Camping Permits

Can I visit any beach to camp?

You could drive up to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will supply you with a list of the top locations to explore and to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.

Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to visit official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?

No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in official locations with secured camping permits. The fee is around $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, though private camping grounds could be a little more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you have complete access to facilities, such as bathrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?

It is definitely a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits before your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses on the internet and also in person in the designated office.

If you choose to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.

Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are bank checks as well as money orders. But it is not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.

What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?

No matter whether you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite some time to get your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.

TESTIMONIALS

Our Happy Clients!

Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.

Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.

We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
