FAQs
What is the minimum age for renting from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are actually 25 years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we always try to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, consider checking with your insurance provider to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tents family friendly?
Yes! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this is an issue, we also offer an extra camping tent with every package which you can put up on the ground. This can be more comfortable for both you as well as your young children.
What is the max. capacity of your camping vehicles?
We can fit 3 people at most, although in case there are more in your party, we do provide an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate up to five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a small fee. Just tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide book or even a map with the nicest places to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Greatest Locations For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach front for camping?
You may drive up to any beach, however, you can only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will supply you with a list of the greatest places to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to go to designated camping sites? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only camp in official areas with secured camping permits. The charge is around $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, including showers, bathrooms and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping license before your journey. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You can also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to get the camping permits?
No matter if you choose to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given right away.
