Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. But, based on your situation, whenever we can, we try to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, try checking with your insurance company to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Yes! Please note that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb a small ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an extra tent with each of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground beside your camper truck. This could be more suitable for you as well as your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
We can accommodate three people at most, although in case there are more within your group, we do have an extra camping tent, as well. With this, we can easily accommodate up to 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guidebook or perhaps a map with the best places to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Best Spots For Camping Out On Kauai & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach front for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will provide you with a list of the greatest places to visit and to go camping. Please remember that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to go to official camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You can only go camping in specific areas with secured camping permits. The charge is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campsites could be a bit more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have total access to facilities, like showers, bathrooms & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you can ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents must pay 3 dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You could also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long does it take to obtain the camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to stay at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. You might choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.
