FAQs
What’s the minimum age for renting from you?
We try to do business with clients who are 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, based on your needs, whenever possible, we try to be accommodating.
In case you are below twenty-five, try checking with your insurer to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tent campers family friendly?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an extra tent with each package which you could set up on the ground beside your camping vehicle. This could be more comfortable for you and your young ones.
How many people can your camping trucks fit?
We are able to accommodate 3 people at most, although if there are more in your group, we do have an extra tent, as well. With this, we can easily fit up to five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Just let us know up-front if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guidebook or even a map with the best beaches & hiking trails to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Perfect Places For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the greatest places to visit and to go camping. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit official camping grounds? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You may only camp in specified areas with secured camping permits. The associated fee is around $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camping grounds may be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have total access to facilities, including showers, restrooms & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a good idea to get your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks as well as money orders. However, it’s not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How much time does it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to receive your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
