Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based upon your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be accommodating.
If you are below twenty-five, consider checking with your insurance provider to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tent camper vehicles kids friendly?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an additional tent with each package which you could set up on the ground next to the camping vehicle. This can be more suitable for both you and also your little ones.
How many people can your camper vehicles accommodate?
The roof top tent camper vehicles fit three people at most, although if there are more within your party, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for as much as 5 individuals. All of our vehicles have 5 seatbelts.
Are you able to provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins upon request for a small fee. Just inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or a map with the nicest beaches & hiking trails to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information About Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach for camping?
You may go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We’ll supply you with a list of the greatest places to explore and to go camping. Please note that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only visit official camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in specified locations with secured camping permits. The charge is around $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campsites could be a little more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have total access to facilities, such as showers, restrooms & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also in person in the designated office.
If you choose to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. However, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
No matter if you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued right away.
