Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, depending on your needs, whenever we can, we always try to be flexible.
If you are below twenty-five, consider contacting your insurance company to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tent camping vehicles family friendly?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb up one small ladder. If this sounds like a problem, we offer an extra tent with each package which you can set up on the ground next to the camper truck. This may be more suitable for you and your kids.
How many people can your camper vehicles fit?
Our camper vehicles sleep 3 individuals at most, although if there are more within your group, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for about 5 individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Do you offer surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide or even a map with the greatest areas to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see & go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach to camp?
You can drive up to any beach, nevertheless, you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will provide you with a list of the ideal places to visit and to camp in. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in designated locations with a valid camping permit. The fee is roughly $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, though private camp sites may be a little more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you will have full access to amenities, such as bathrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.
Can you recommend any Kauai camping sites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a better to organize your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also in person in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t have to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You can also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. You might obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them on the spot.
