Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are 25 years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, try checking with your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb a little ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an additional tent with every package which you can easily put up on the ground. This can be more convenient for you as well as your children.
What is the max. capacity of your vehicles?
We are able to fit 3 individuals maximum, though in case there are more within your party, we do have an additional tent, as well. With this, we are able to accommodate about five people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Simply inform us in advance if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or even a map with the best places to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You may drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will provide you with a list of the greatest places to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in designated locations with secured camping permits. The charge is about $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you have complete access to facilities, including restrooms, showers and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.
Where can I park and sleep with my roof top tent truck?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license before your journey. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this application are cashier’s checks and money orders. However, you don’t have to book your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You may also get them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. You may opt to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them immediately.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
