Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, based upon your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking with your insurer to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are you able to accommodate families with kids?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up one small ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an additional camping tent with all of our packages which you can put up on the ground next to the camper truck. This can be more comfortable for both you and your young ones.
How many individuals can your camping trucks fit?
We are able to fit 3 people at most, though if there are more in your party, we do offer an extra tent, as well. With this, we are able to fit up to five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guidebook or a map with the greatest hiking trails and beaches to visit on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach front to camp?
You can go to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We’ll provide you with a list of the greatest locations to explore and to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping sites? If so, how much is the charge?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in designated areas with a current camping permit. The fee is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campsites may be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you have total access to facilities, like showers, bathrooms and picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t have to reserve your camping licenses before your arrival. You could also obtain them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to receive your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given right away.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
