Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and older because of our insurance coverage restrictions. But, depending on your circumstances, whenever we can, we strive to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, try checking in with your insurance provider to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Would you be able to accommodate families who have kids?
Of course! Please note that with our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb one small ladder. If this is a concern, we offer an additional tent with every package which you can easily put up on the ground. This may be much more comfortable for you and also your young children.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
Our roof top tent camper vehicles sleep three individuals at most, although in case there are more within your group, we do offer an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily accommodate as much as five individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a travel guide or perhaps a map with the greatest beaches & hiking trails to explore on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to see & go camping on Kauai.
Top Places For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We’ll supply you with a list of the greatest places to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just visit designated camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You may only camp in specified locations with a current camping permit. The fee is about $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, but private camp sites could be a bit more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you will have full access to facilities, including restrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your trip. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits online and also in person in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay 3 dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. But it’s not necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the designated permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to get your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them immediately.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
