Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with customers who are twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based on your situation, whenever possible, we always try to be accommodating.
In case you are below twenty-five, try checking with your insurer to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your roof top tent camping trucks kids friendly?
Certainly! Please note that using our rooftop campers you’ll have to climb a small ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you may put up on the ground beside your camping truck. This can be more convenient for you and also your young children.
How many individuals can your camping trucks accommodate?
We could accommodate three people maximum, though if there are more within your party, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate about 5 people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Just let us know up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or even a map with the greatest beaches and hiking trails to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see & camp out on Kauai.
Perfect Spots For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You may go to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the ideal places to check out and to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just visit official camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You may only go camping in official locations with secured camping permits. The associated fee is around $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, though private campsites may be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you have total access to amenities, such as showers, restrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please note that if you decide to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are cashier’s checks as well as money orders. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to reserve your camping permits before your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
Whether you decide to go to a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given right away.
