Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age to rent from you?
We try to do business with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, based on your circumstances, whenever we can, we try to be flexible.
If you are below 25 years, try checking with your insurer to find out if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your roof top tent campers family friendly?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an additional camping tent with all of our packages which you can easily set up on the ground beside your camping truck. This could be more comfortable for both you and your young children.
How many individuals can your camping trucks accommodate?
We could accommodate 3 individuals at most, although if there are more within your party, we do have an additional tent, as well. With this, we can easily allow for about five individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a fee. Simply inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or even a map with the best hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Perfect Locations For Camping Outdoors On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Can I head to any beach for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard procedure. We will give you a list of the ideal places to explore and also to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to go to official camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only go camping in specified areas with a current camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campsites could be a bit more. One advantage of these campsites is that you will have full access to facilities, like bathrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a good idea to organize your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also in person in the designated office.
If you opt to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks and money orders. But it is not necessary to book your camping permits before your arrival. You can also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you choose to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite some time to get your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them immediately.
