Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with clients who are 25 years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, based upon your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
If you are below twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurance provider to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tent campers family friendly?
Certainly! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you will need to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we provide an extra camping tent with every package which you can easily put up on the ground next to the camper vehicle. This may be more suitable for you and also your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your camper vehicles?
Our camping vehicles sleep 3 individuals maximum, although in case there are more within your party, we do have an extra tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for about 5 individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Can you provide surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Simply tell us in advance if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide book or even a map with the nicest locations to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out & go camping on Kauai.
Best Locations For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I go to any beach for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, nevertheless, you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We will provide you with a list of the top places to check out and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or can we just go to official camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in designated locations with a valid camping permit. The fee is about $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campsites could be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you have full access to facilities, such as washrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and money orders. However, it’s not absolutely necessary to book your camping permits prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
No matter whether you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to get your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
