Here are Some Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are twenty-five years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. Nevertheless, based upon your circumstances, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
If you are younger than twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate families who have kids?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also offer an additional tent with every package which you could set up on the ground beside the camper vehicle. This may be much more comfortable for both you and also your little ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your camping vehicles?
We can fit three individuals maximum, although in case there are more in your group, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to allow for as much as five people. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Do you have surfboards?
Yes, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards and fins on request for a small fee. Just inform us beforehand if you would like to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or perhaps a map with the nicest places to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I go to any beach for camping?
You could go to any beach, but you can only set up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the standard practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the ideal locations to check out and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or are we just able to visit official camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You can only camp in specified areas with secured camping permits. The fee is approximately $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds may be a bit more. One advantage of these camping grounds is that you have complete access to facilities, like bathrooms, showers & picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
In advance, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are bank checks and also money orders. However, it’s not necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to get your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will receive them immediately.
