Commonly Asked Questions
What’s the minimum age to rent from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, based on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, consider contacting your insurer to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tent campers kids friendly?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb up one small ladder. If this is an issue, we also offer an extra camping tent with each package which you can easily put up on the ground beside the camper truck. This may be more comfortable for both you as well as your children.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
We can accommodate 3 people at most, although in case there are more in your group, we do have an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for up to 5 people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a fee. Just inform us beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide book or perhaps a map with the nicest places to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information About Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach for camping?
You can go to any beach, but you should only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the top locations to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we just go to official camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only camp in specified locations with secured camping permits. The associated fee is approximately $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds could be a little more. One particular advantage of these campgrounds is that you will have total access to facilities, including showers, bathrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.
Can you suggest any Kauai camp sites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your trip. For most private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and use a ground tent, you can request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You may also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
How long does it take to get the camping permits?
Whether you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are given right away.
