Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to work with customers who are actually twenty-five years and above because of our insurance coverage restrictions. On the other hand, based on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking with your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?
Indeed! Please keep in mind that with our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb one small ladder. If this is a problem, we provide an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you can set up on the ground beside the camping truck. This could be more convenient for you and your children.
How many people can your camping vehicles fit?
We are able to accommodate three people at most, though if there are more in your party, we do provide an extra tent, too. With this, we are able to fit up to 5 people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a travel guide or perhaps a map with the best hiking trails & beaches to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach for camping?
You can drive up to any beach, nevertheless, you can only put up your camp in official camping sites. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the greatest places to check out and also to camp in. Please note that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we only visit official camping sites? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You can only go camping in official areas with secured camping permits. The charge is about $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private campgrounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, such as bathrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.
Could you suggest any Kauai camping sites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license before your arrival. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your licenses on the internet and also in person in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may ask for permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night beforehand. Payment methods accepted with this application are bank checks and money orders. Nevertheless, it’s not absolutely necessary to book your camping permits before your arrival. You may also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
Whether you choose to go to a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
