FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to do business with customers who are actually 25 years and older because of our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we strive to be accommodating.
If you are below 25 years, try checking in with your insurance provider to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Yes! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you would need to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we provide an additional camping tent with each of our packages which you could put up on the ground beside your camper vehicle. This could be more suitable for you as well as your kids.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
The camper vehicles sleep three people at most, though if there are more in your party, we do offer an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for up to five people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply inform us in advance if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or even a map with the best areas to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach front for camping?
You may go to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the greatest locations to check out and also to camp in. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we just able to go to designated camping grounds? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in designated locations with secured camping permits. The associated fee is roughly $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, but private camp sites may be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you will have total access to amenities, such as restrooms, showers & picnic kitchen tables. Please keep in mind that if you decide to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.
Can you recommend any Kauai camping sites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is a better to get your Kauai camping license before your journey. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the costs are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to book your camping licenses prior to your arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
No matter whether you choose to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you decide to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it might take quite a while to receive your permits. You might choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them right away.
