Here are Some Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We prefer to work with clients who are actually 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. Having said that, depending on your needs, whenever possible, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try checking with your insurer to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults who have kids?
Absolutely! Please note that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb a small ladder. If this is an issue, we also offer an extra camping tent with all of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground beside the camping vehicle. This could be much more comfortable for both you as well as your kids.
How many individuals can your camping vehicles fit?
We could fit 3 people maximum, though in case there are more in your party, we do have an additional camping tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for about five individuals. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Just inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a guide book or a map with the nicest areas to visit on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit & camp out on Kauai.
Best Places For Camping Out On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach for camping?
You can go to any beach, nevertheless, you can only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We will provide you with a list of the best places to explore and also to go camping. Please be aware that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we just go to designated camping sites? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You may only go camping in specified areas with a current camping permit. The charge is around $3 per night in most Kauai county campgrounds, though private campgrounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, including washrooms, showers & picnic tables. Please be aware that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It’s a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you can get your permits online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents need to pay 3 dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, it is not necessary to reserve your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You can also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to get your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given right away.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
