Commonly Asked Questions
What is the minimum age for renting from you?
We would rather like to do business with customers who are 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. However, based on your needs, whenever possible, we try to be accommodating.
If you are younger than twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurer to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are you able to accommodate adults with children?
Absolutely! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you will need to climb one small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we offer an extra tent with every package which you can easily set up on the ground. This can be more convenient for both you and your little ones.
How many people can your camping trucks fit?
Our camper vehicles sleep three individuals at most, though if there are more in your party, we do offer an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to allow for about 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Simply tell us up-front if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide or a map with the best areas to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to visit and camp out on Kauai.
Perfect Places For Camping On Kauai & Information About Camping Permits
Can I go to any beach for camping?
You may drive up to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in designated camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll supply you with a list of the ideal locations to check out and also to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we just go to official camping sites? If so, what is the charge?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You can only go camping in specific areas with secured camping permits. The fee is about $3 per night in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private campgrounds could be a bit more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have total access to facilities, like showers, washrooms & picnic kitchen tables. Please remember that if you choose to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It’s a better to get your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents have to pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. However, it’s not necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite a while to receive your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
