Commonly Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. However, based upon your situation, whenever possible, we try to be flexible.
If you are younger than 25 years, consider checking in with your insurance provider to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Certainly! Please note that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb up a little ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we offer an additional camping tent with each package which you may set up on the ground beside your camping vehicle. This may be much more comfortable for you and your little ones.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
Our camper vehicles sleep three people maximum, though if there are more in your party, we do have an additional tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for about 5 individuals. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Certainly, our company offers surfboards and boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Simply tell us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or a map with the nicest beaches & hiking trails to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to visit & go camping on Kauai.
Perfect Locations For Camping Out On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to visit any beach for camping?
You may go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We’ll give you a list of the greatest locations to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Are we permitted to camp in the wild or are we only able to visit designated camping sites? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping isn’t permitted in Kauai. You can only go camping in specific areas with a current camping permit. The charge is approximately $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private camp sites may be a little more. One advantage of these campgrounds is that you will have full access to facilities, like restrooms, showers & picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you choose to camp on the county campsites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping license prior to your journey. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you decide to camp at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you may obtain permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, you don’t necessarily have to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You can also get them at the various permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
If you choose to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued on the spot.
