Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We try to do business with clients who are twenty-five years and above due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, based on your needs, whenever we can, we strive to be accommodating.
In case you are younger than 25 years, try contacting your insurance company to determine if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Are your rooftop tents kids friendly?
Yes! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop campers you will need to climb up a small ladder. If this is an issue, we also provide an additional tent with all of our packages which you could set up on the ground. This can be much more comfortable for both you and also your children.
How many individuals can your camper vehicles accommodate?
We can fit three individuals at most, although in case there are more within your party, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily fit up to five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Do you provide surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards and also fins upon request for a fee. Just let us know in advance if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guide or even a map with the greatest beaches & hiking trails to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best spots to check out and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Camping Permits FAQ
Am I able to head to any beach for camping?
You may go to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in designated camping sites. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We’ll give you a list of the greatest places to visit and to go camping. Please remember that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we just able to visit designated camping grounds? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You should only go camping in specific areas with a valid camping permit. The fee is about $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, but private campgrounds could be a little more. One advantage of these campsites is that you have complete access to amenities, such as restrooms, showers and picnic tables. Please note that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license before your trip. For most private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents have to pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Payment methods accepted with this application are money orders & cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How long will it take to obtain the camping permits?
If you choose to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. Permits can be obtained at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are issued immediately.
