Ideal Locations For Camping Out On Kauai & Details About Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach for camping?
You could go to any beach, nevertheless, you should only put up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the usual procedure. We will supply you with a list of the best places to check out and also to go camping. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or are we only able to go to official camping grounds? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You may only camp in specific areas with secured camping permits. The fee is roughly $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a bit more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you have full access to facilities, like bathrooms, showers and picnic kitchen tables. Please remember that if you opt to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Prior to our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to organize your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private campsites, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
In advance, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. Nevertheless, it’s not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping licenses prior to your planned arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
No matter if you decide to camp at a state or private campground, both online and in person reservations are possible. Please note that if you choose to stay at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to receive your permits. You might get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
