FAQs
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to do business with customers who are actually 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. However, based on your needs, whenever possible, we always strive to be flexible.
In case you are below 25 years, consider checking with your insurance company to see if you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can call us.
Are your roof top tents kids friendly?
Indeed! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this is a concern, we also provide an additional tent with each of our packages which you can easily put up on the ground. This could be more convenient for both you and also your children.
How many people can your camping trucks fit?
We could accommodate three individuals maximum, though in case there are more in your group, we do provide an additional camping tent, as well. With this, we are able to fit up to five individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide both surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Simply let us know beforehand if you want to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a travel guide or perhaps a map with the nicest hiking trails & beaches to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information About Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach to camp?
You could go to any beach, however, you can only put up your camp in designated camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the usual practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the greatest locations to explore and also to camp in. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or are we only able to go to official camping sites? If so, what is the cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed in Kauai. You may only camp in specified locations with secured camping permits. The charge is roughly $3 per night in the majority of Kauai county campgrounds, though private camping grounds may be a bit more. One particular advantage of these camping grounds is that you have complete access to amenities, including restrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county camp sites, you are only allowed to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we have to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to organize your Kauai camping permits prior to your arrival. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses online and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you decide to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may ask for permits by going to the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the charges are $3 per night for non-residents of Hawaii. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are money orders and cashier’s checks. However, you don’t necessarily have to book your camping permits before your planned arrival. You can also get them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is typically easier.
How much time does it take to get the camping permits?
If you decide to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite some time to receive your permits. You may choose to obtain your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the various permit offices on the island; in-person you will receive them right away.
