Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age restrictions to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are 25 years and above because of our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, depending on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always try to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, consider checking with your insurance provider to see if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a small ladder. If this sounds like an issue, we also offer an additional tent with each package which you could set up on the ground next to your camper truck. This could be much more comfortable for you and your young children.
What is the maximum capacity of your trucks?
We can accommodate three people at most, though if there are more in your group, we do offer an extra camping tent, too. With this, we are able to fit as much as five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Absolutely yes, we provide surfboards & boogie boards and fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we receive a guidebook or perhaps a map with the nicest areas to explore on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see and go camping on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to head to any beach front to camp?
You could go to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping grounds. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We will supply you with a list of the top locations to visit and to camp in. Please note that driving a vehicle on the beaches isn’t permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we only go to designated camping sites? If so, how much does it cost?
No, wild camping is not permitted on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in specific locations with secured camping permits. The charge is roughly $3 per night in many Kauai county parks, but private camp sites may be a little more. The good thing about these campgrounds is that you have complete access to facilities, such as showers, washrooms and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you choose to go camping on the county camp sites, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.
Could you suggest any Kauai camping sites where I can set up the roof top tent?

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is a good idea to get your Kauai camping permits before your journey. For the majority of private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the respective office.
If you opt to stay at a county campsite and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents have to pay 3 dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But it’s not necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You may also obtain them at the various permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
Whether you choose to go to a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to camp at a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it might take quite some time to receive your permits. You might choose to get your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the different permit offices on the island; in-person you will get them right away.
