Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We would rather like to work with customers who are 25 years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. But, based upon your circumstances, whenever possible, we try to be flexible.
In case you are below twenty-five, consider checking in with your insurer to find out whether you would be covered for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults with children?
Of course! Please note that using our rooftop campers you would need to climb a little ladder. If this is a concern, we also provide an additional camping tent with every package which you can easily put up on the ground. This could be much more comfortable for both you and your little ones.
How many people can your camping trucks accommodate?
The roof top tent camping vehicles fit 3 people maximum, although if there are more within your group, we do have an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate up to 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
What about surfboards?
Yes, we offer both surfboards and boogie boards and also fins on request for a fee. Simply tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your reservation and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we get a travel guide or even a map with the nicest areas to check out on Kauai?
Sure, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see & camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Information Regarding Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach for camping?
You may drive up to any beach, but you should only set up your camp in official camping sites. Here on Kauai, this is the standard practice. We’ll provide you with a list of the best places to check out and to go camping. Please remember that driving a vehicle on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just visit designated camping sites? If so, how much is the fee?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in official locations with a valid camping permit. The fee is approximately $3 per night stay in most Kauai county parks, but private camp sites may be a bit more. The good thing about these campsites is that you will have complete access to facilities, like bathrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a good idea to obtain your Kauai camping license prior to your arrival. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you can get your licenses on the internet and also in person in the respective office.
If you opt to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” page.
Non-residents need to pay three dollars per night up-front. Payment methods accepted with this particular application are cashier’s checks as well as money orders. Nevertheless, it’s not necessary to book your camping licenses before your planned arrival. You could also obtain them at the designated permit offices in Kauai, which is usually easier.
How much time will it take to obtain the camping permits?
Whether you decide to camp at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to go to a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite a while to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the license offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given on the spot.

Our Happy Clients!
Exploring Kauai with a rooftop camper is a fun and unique way to explore this beautiful island! Our family of 4 spent 12 fabulous days exploring and camping. The extra tent with the rooftop provided plenty of space for us…we had an amazing time! All communication with Jonathan and Jamie was smooth and easy. They are lovely people who genuinely want to provide a great experience.
Jamie and Jonathan were excellent hosts! Even though they were on vacation, Jonathan made all accommodations very easy and helped us with every step. Note: if you are under 25, make sure to let them know to make sure you are covered by insurance! Jonathan helped us work it out and we had a great time
Los Angeles, CA
Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
We had such an amazing trip with Jamie’s camper! Jamie and Jonathan were both so kind and took their time to explain to us the ins and out of our camper. Communication was easy and the beaches they recommend we visit were like paradise! Will rent again from them when we come back for sure!
The BEST way to experience the beautiful garden island! Not only a great service–transportation doubling as your lodging–but wonderful and warm hosts. Jonathan and Jamie were so kind and helpful. An absolutely wonderful trip to Kauai–thank you both!
