Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
We prefer to do business with customers who are twenty-five years and older due to our insurance policy restrictions. On the other hand, based on your needs, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
In case you are younger than twenty-five, try checking in with your insurer to determine if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then call us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults who have children?
Absolutely! Please note that using our rooftop campers you will need to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also provide an extra tent with each package which you can put up on the ground. This could be more comfortable for both you and your little ones.
How many individuals can your camping trucks fit?
We can accommodate 3 individuals maximum, though if there are more in your group, we do have an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate about five people. Each of our vehicles has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Certainly, we offer both surfboards & boogie boards and also fins on request for a small fee. Just inform us up-front if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guidebook or a map with the nicest hiking trails & beaches to visit on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to see and go camping on Kauai.
Greatest Locations For Camping On Kauai & Camping Permits FAQ
Can I visit any beach for camping?
You can go to any beach, however, you should only set up your camp in designated camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We will give you a list of the top locations to explore and also to go camping. Please remember that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” allowed or can we only visit official camping sites? If so, how much is the cost?
No, wild camping isn’t allowed on the island of Kauai. You should only camp in official locations with secured camping permits. The associated fee is around $3 per night stay in most Kauai county campgrounds, but private campsites may be a little more. One particular advantage of these campsites is that you will have full access to facilities, such as showers, restrooms & picnic tables. Please note that if you decide to go camping on the county campgrounds, you are only allowed to set up the ground tent.

Do we need to get Kauai camping permits before our arrival in Kauai?
It is definitely a better to get your Kauai camping license before your trip. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you can secure your permits on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you choose to camp at a county campground and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Non-residents have to pay three dollars per night up-front. Accepted payment methods with this application are money orders and cashier’s checks. But you don’t have to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You can also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
No matter if you choose to stay at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you decide to stay at a county campsite, mail-in applications are easy to submit, however it can take quite a while to get your permits. Permits can be obtained at the permit offices on Kauai once you have arrived; in-person permits are given right away.
